Brattish Behaviour: Flack Scorgull

I did a very teeny-tiny bit of hobby activity last night to finished off the base of the latest addition to my Brat gang, Flack Scorgull.

Flack Scorgull adds some ranged weaponry to the gang

Toting a finely crafted lasgun, Flack is renowned for his edgy haircut, combining a long floppy fringe (dyed pink of course), with a stiff extravagent rear crest, said to be inspired by the shape of the feathered scorgulls which nest in cliff-like areas of the Hive ventilation shafts.

Underhive Terrain: Playing With Hexagons

During my current search for decent Necromundan Underhive terrain, I kept seeing tantalising references to a couple of systems by Conflix called Platformer and Hexagon. I'm not sure if these are still being produced, as my search to find a UK stockist was incredibly frustrating. However, I managed to track down a single Hexagon small box at 4TK Gaming (see what they did there?) for £6.30. At the price, I thought it was worth a punt, and the box duly arrived last week:

Brattish Behaviour: WIP Guys & Molls / Underhive Terrain

What does any self respecting Brat need? That's right, an adoring girl to tell him how great he looks. After all, if people aren't telling you how great you look all the time, then what's the point in spending hours perfecting your newest quiff or the perfect place for that diamante beauty spot?

First up is a new addition to the gang, based on a the very nice 'My Hero' figure by Hasslefree Miniatures. I'm a sucker for little dioramas on a small base, and this figure was just crying out to have something done to it!

Brattish Behaviour: Enter the Thin White Duke

"Lookit 'im!" thought Gurf, as he trained his lasrifle sights onto one of the more flamboyant members of the Brat gang picking their way past the vaporators. "Fancy ponce wiv 'is white togs."

The Brat was clearly sporting a highly fashionable outfit; a blindingly white, tight-waisted coat with high collar and tails, lined with bright orange, teamed with skin tight trews buckled along the length of the seams. Turquoise lace dripped out from his cuffs, while jewels and precious metals casually dangled and glimmered. The Brat was wearing a tall, stiff hairdo, dyed unnaturally pink, while in his right hand he was casually twirling a jet-black cane.

Gurf steadied his aim and tensed his trigger finger. He never even saw Rhett d'Arquin's power blade as it slashed across the back of his neck.

Dark Elves at the NAF Championship 2014

The weekend just gone (17/18 May) was a beautifully sunny one. Perfect for picnics, days out and paddling pools. That's what my wife did with our kids anyway. I spent the weekend indoors rolling dice and pushing little men around a green board! That's right - actual real life gaming - a whole weekend of it!

Last year I started building a Dark Elf Blood Bowl team with the intention of going to the NAF Championship 2014; pretty much the largest Blood Bowl tournament in the world. In January I managed to persuade my mate Dan to come along with a team, so we duly bought tickets and then I broke the news to my wife.

Come the day of the weekend of the tournament, I had put the finishing touches to my team and the display base, and was ready to go. Here's what my finished team looked like:

Biker Brat WIP & Liebster Questions

I am waiting for a few extra bits so I can do some more work on my Brat hot-rod streetcar. Not wanting to waste the opportunity of a few hours modelling last night, I decided to start on an accompanying vehicle - this time with two wheels.

Here's what I've been working on:

Blood Bowl and the Art of Graphology

If you've read some of my previous blog posts, you will know that I have a bit of a soft spot for signed GW memorabilia. Not the everyday commonplace rulebooks or latest codex that got signed 5 minutes ago, but the old stuff (when everything was better*).

*Disclaimer: it may not have been better, I just remember it as being so.

What follows is one of life's little lessons - make sure you inspect the merchandise. The object in question is a classic 1986 boxed set of GW's game of fantasy football; Blood Bowl. This one in fact:

A classic cover for a classic game
I very much like Blood Bowl, although in reality, I've only ever played one game of 1st edition. And what would make me buy a second, slightly more battered copy of a game I already own?

This:

That's right, signed by the Blood Bowl creator himself, Jervis Johnson
