Huvez & Ctzoad - Space Slann Warrior & Youngling

I'm continuing with the focus on my space slann for the moment, making the most of my enthusiasm for painting them! As mentioned in my previous post, I wanted to try out a complementary but variant skin colour for the slann. I have used a nice de-saturated orangy-red (Citadel's Wild Rider Red) which I've highlighted with a pale flesh paint and am very happy with the results. I think I'll use this in a rough 1:2 ratio with the deep red I've been using for the slann to date.

The new pair of slann are Huvez from the original Rogue Trader range plus the youngling (Ctzoad). This diminutive juvenile slann is converted from the 'toad familiar' from Citadel's chaos range. I'm not entirely sure why I hadn't thought of it before, but it's an obvious conversion. All I did was add the loincloth, signature slann wrist-mounted pistol and the headpiece.

A few minor additions and he's definitely now a slann!

Painted up, I think he fits in really nicely with the slann adults.

I really like how the new skin colour fits with the overall scheme, adding some variety without looking like they're a different species. I'd like to add in a third variant skin tone and am considering an albino, perhaps for Commander Xix when I get round to it!

I'm liking the way this group is looking together.
