Confrontation Showcase

Official Confrontation Miniatures

Below is a showcase of my complete collection of miniatures produced by Citadel and Marauder miniatures for the early 1990s Necromunda precursor game, Confrontation. The game was published in instalments in White Dwarf between #130-142.

The collection includes every known miniature sculpted for the game, including limited edition, general release and unreleased models.

Technically the unreleased John Blanche ganger isn't a Confrontation miniature, but it's contemporary in terms of style and era, so I've included it. Similarly, the Adeptus Arbites were general 40k figures, but the concept sketches were published alongside the Confrontation White Dwarf articles, so that makes them 'official' in my book!

The scavvy king and bratt leader were unreleased. All 5 figures were sculpted by Jes Goodwin.

Each hive gang comprised one single-piece leader and three armless gangers to complete with plastic bare arms or Imperial Guard arms, sculpted by the Perry twins. I've used a mix of arms from a wide range of sources to fit with the style of the miniatures, rather than limit myself to the original plastics.

The Marauder figures were sculpted by Aly Morrison and have a chunkier feel than the Citadel figures. Many of the designs are closely based on John Blanche's Confrontation concept sketches.

These scavvies were all sculpted by Jes Goodwin. The general release figures again were armless, but the wonderful unreleased scavvies are single-piece sculpts.

The upper row of techs were all sculpted by Mark Copplestone, with the lower row sculpted by Roy Eastland. All of the figures apart from the leader are armless. Again, I used a wide range of arms to complete the figures, choosing heavier weaponry for Roy's thicker-set sculpts.

Like the scavvies, Jes Goodwin sculpted all of the bratts. Two were limited release (single-piece sculpts) and three saw general release (again armless). The four unreleased sculpts are also single-piece.

Dave Andrews sculpted the four unreleased Helmawr gangers (I presume to accompany Jes Goodwin's leader). The limited edition figure was also sculpted by Jes - all five of these are single-piece sculpts. The bounty hunters are again armless sculpts from Roy Eastland. I had a lot of fun finding exotic and custom weapons/arms to give them.
