The Magnificent Slann-ven - Finishing the Rogue Trader Set

Following on from the previous couple of slann-themed posts, I was filled with enthusiasm to finish painting all the Rogue Trader slann and get a bucket-list project completed. I've wanted to get a full set painted for more years than I care to remember! With around half the set painted, it seemed like a good idea to blast through the remaining seven figures. And here they are:

These seven slann are all from the original Rogue Trader range sculpted by Trish Carden.

Image from Stuff of Legends.

As with the previous slann, I painted them in a range of colours, with dark red being the predominant colour. As Commander Xix is the highest ranking slann, I chose to paint him as an albino and therefore marked out for great things!

Sgt. Yoitz and Olassa.

Ixtacha, Cmmr. Xix and Xvarn.

Quinletz and Holx.

I still have some more slann in the works (non-Citadel figures and conversions), but I thought it would be good to show off the warband as it stands:

All 12 RT slann plus the unreleased Citadel slann, 2x Crooked Dice amphirans, Lead & Steel event mini and 2x conversions. I forgot my slann mage priest on his golden floating disc!

  6. I'm desperately jealous. I've only managed to get my mitts of three of the old Slann. They're hard to find. (Especially at a reasonable price.) Anyway, you've done an absolutely glorious job of it!

    1. I feel your pain. These days they're impossible to acquire. Like most of my stuff, I picked mine up in the early 2000s when no-one wanted chunky old lead!

  9. Slann envy. I have Slann envy! LOL! In all my years in this hobby I only ever managed to get my hands on a single one. I did manage to get a blister pack of fantasy Slann with blowguns way back in the final days of RT. I forgot what I counted those weapons as but using the RT book army list, they were tough!

    1. I sympathise! It took me several years to track down the full set in the early 2000s. They weren't especially expensive then, just difficult to find. I'd never even bothered with them in my early 40k days, but I think even then they were pretty uncommon!
