Marooned in a Wasteland - Rogue Trader Ferals

I've wanted to make some Rogue Trader ferals for a long time. The template was already there with a couple of the figures from the Adventurers range - half-naked lunatics wearing tattered rags and furs, but still sporting advanced weaponry and carrying the odd high-tech bit of equipment.

My theory is that my group of ferals are the survivors from some disaster. What probably happened is that  an Imperial troop transport ship ran into difficulty whilst passing a wasteland world mainly composed of rocks, desert and searing temperatures. A bunch of imperial guardsmen were forced to abandon ship and now spend their time fighting off indigenous beasties and hoping for rescue. I'm aiming to build a small gang of these lads over the next couple of months, but for now here's a started group of three!

"These are not the droids you are looking for" - Olley x R2-D2 & C-3PO

A year ago when I painted up some Iron Claw space pirates in a Star Wars rebel commando scheme, I didn't imagine that I'd slide down a slippery slope that led to converting Bob Olley sculpts as Yoda, Jabba, Lando or Boba Fett. It's been a brilliantly fun project that has challenged me in a lot of ways - tracking down obscure miniatures from defunct companies, repurposing them or converting them in new ways.

For the record, I have made 22 rebels and 25 imperials, plus a saarlac pit. The last pair of figures to be included in these totals are everyone's favourite droids.

"Squee-gurnkk" - Olley x Gamorrean Guard

In my last post Jabba had his throne, his whispering advisors and a slew of dodgy-looking mercenaries / bounty hunters. He was missing a bit of porcine muscle though, so here are a couple to fill that gap.

"De wanna wanga?" - Olley x Jabba

Jabba the Hutt is, aside from Vader, probably the mode iconic Star Wars bad guy. I've wanted to make a Jabba and entourage for my Bob Olley themed Star Wars project for a long time, but I was struggling to work out exactly how.

Luckily a friend of mine donated me a failed 3D print of the seated genestealer patriarch (yes, I know this is morally suspect), and that was the start of Jabba as imagined by Bob.
