With several WIP figures from the rebellion sitting unfinished on my desk, I decided to get this pair of Olley Stormtroopers done quickly. Once again they are Kryomek Nexus SWAT troopers with ultra-fast paintjobs using mainly contrast paints. They give me a couple of extra options when building Stargrave lists or similar.
Not much else to say about them, other than they're lovely chunky figs from the hands of Bob Olley yet again!
As ever, great work. These guys really work as stormtroopers (except that they look tougher than the official version). They're very nice models.
ReplyDeleteThanks Toby. They're excellent models & definitely look a bit tougher than the official figs!
DeleteI'm fascinated by the whole project, and again I love how incredible this apparently simple b/w pattern works!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suber! I probably would have chosen a more complex colour schene if I wasn't basing it on the stormtroopers. Interesting how effective a very simple scheme can be!
DeleteAwesome work, they look great.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteA nice vision of the stromtroopers. They seem heavily armoured and those two are heavily armed...
ReplyDeleteIf you can paint Stormtroopers quickly with contrast paints, well, there must be something to them! I found them to be a pain in the butt. If you do a black base coat and white dry brush, the white doesn't cover the black well enough. If you do a white base coat and black wash, it darkens down the shiny white armor too much. Do tell your secret!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a pretty easy process:
Delete1. Undercoat white
2. Paint entire model with Citadel contrast apothecary white (thin out the contrast with water if it pools on flat surfaces like shoulder pads).
3. Drybrush white.
4. Paint the joints, fingers, eye lenses etc with Citadel contrast black templar.
Finish off with any other details. Done!
