I know I've mentioned this before, but I really enjoy theming a group of miniatures around the work of a specific sculptor. My current 40k chaos cult project is built around the late 1990s cultists by Paul Muller, and this next group throws the net a little wider again to include some more of his non-GW work. And if I say so myself, I think they're starting to look pretty cool together!
I wanted to add some more longer ranged weaponry than the standard cult kit of a knife plus pistol. I also fancied a more imposing Demagogue to lead the cult (I'll still use the original Demagogues as unit leaders).
I also wanted to use some of the Gorkamorka mutie bits sculpted by Paul. A snagga torso plus a cultist lower body gives me a cool scout or ranger type (or possibly he has reached 'enlightened' status).
With the colour scheme already set, it was a fairly quick job to paint these up, plus another one of the excellent Cauldron Born Miniatures torture nubbins to accompany the Demagogue.
I deliberately painted the 'enlightened' cultist as if he's on his way to morphing into a brute (see previous post) |
The Demagogue got a ramp up of red in his colour scheme. I especially like it on his natty high priest hat. I'm very pleased with how well the nonchalant servo claw fits the pose.
I've got plenty more cultists to come, having picked up some more on the second-hand market. Hopefully I'll work through some over the next few weeks as the word of the Demagogue spreads!

Very nice conversions. I really like the skin tones you've used on these guys: still human, but suitably sickly. Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteThanks Toby. I like using this skin colour - I reckon they've been hiding in the shadows and secretly plotting. They need to get put in the fresh air more!
