"Give in to your anger!" - Olley x The Emperor

No, it's not the Emperor on the Golden Throne; it's the other one with the dark robe, weird eyes and lighting bolts shooting out of his hands!

The Bob Olley figure I've chose to represent the Emperor is a Reaper phantom. The figure lacks the corrupted physique that the screen-version has, but he does have a nice simple hooded robe and hands that look just like they're shooting out force lightning.

The paintjob was again super-quick - mainly drybrushing some grey highlights over the black basecoat.

The pair of Royal Guard are again from the Iron Claw space pirates range (the range that keeps on giving!). This figure is Star Raven (aka Time Lord). I'm not sure if Bob conceived the figure as a leader or mystic/psyker. Either way, the figure feels quite different to the more militaristic sculpts of the rest of the range - painting a pair of them red to hang out with the Emperor seemed the obvious use for them!

I think they look quite nice flanking their master:

This isn't quite the end of the Imperial forces (I bought a pair of Kryomek Nexus SWAT heavy weapons troopers last week), but for all intents and purposes, this is pretty much as far as I intend to go with the dark side. More work on the rebel alliance to come in the New Year!

  1. Really nice! They feel like concept art for the real Star Wars, or maybe an exceptionally good knock off called "War of the Stars". It's a nice force, and I look forward to seeing the rebels!

    1. Thanks Toby. All the way through I've been imagining what would have happened if Bob Olley got given some early concepts to work from instead of film stills. But they could totally be bootlegs too!

  3. Looking fantastic. I'm always impressed with how minis can be thematically aligned to something completely different with a keen eye and a good paint job.

    1. Thanks! It's amazing how much is achieved by making the colours right. Suddenly your brain is prepared to overlook all the small inconsistencies in the details!
