I've made two more cultists anticipating being able to buy more fighters and gear - another combat cultist, and a disciple armed with a missile launcher.
I knew early on that I wanted to add more heavy weapons to the cult, however I didn't want another heavy stubber or a heavy flamer (from the gang's wargear list). I wanted something more exotic from the Trading Post. After reviewing the options which included plasma cannons, lascannons and heavy bolters, I settled on the more utilitarian missile launcher - as a lower tech weapon, it should be easier for cultists to acquire. Of course, I do need to save up creds and roll high enough on the Trading Post to actually get one, but I'm hoping it won't be too long!
Denge is an avid devotee of the Benevolent Brothers. Old leg wounds have left his lower body crippled and weak, but a technical mind and steady aim means that he is a handy addition to any crew needing long-ranged support from his missile launcher.
You may recognise that Denge shares parts with one of Inquisitor Dirske's retinue from a few years back - the Citadel version of Rogue Trooper armed with a laszooka.
To try and avoid the military look this time, I swapped out the legs for a pair from a Necromunda plague zombie, and replaced the helmet with a hat (from the RT adventurer who donated the hand flamer arm to Snyke.
A few greenstuff repairs and additions, and Denge was good to go!
Trego is pretty much a meat shield for other more valuable members of the cult. Armed with nothing more than an axe and a stub gun, he's about as cheap as it comes in terms of recruitment. But I figure that the way to succeed with the cult is to swamp opposing gangs. I'll let you know how that theory holds up!
Trego is an unmodified mutie from Citadel's 2000AD range. The look is pretty much perfect for my mutie cult!
I'll try to put up a post with pics of the full cult in the next week or so - they do look pretty cool when you see them all together!
Lovely work, total Oldschool.
ReplyDeleteWant moooaaah!
Glad you like them! Pretty much all of my projects are old school, so watch this space ;)
DeleteI've actually been doing it for a long while ;-)
DeleteNice work. I appreciate how the laszooka/missile launcher has that cut out front which gives it a bit of a PIAT feel.
ReplyDeleteThat guy with the axe and pistol seems pretty threatening... which is certainly a plus for a meat shield!
Cheers! I like slightly unusual weapon outlines - I think the laszooka is certainly that, in 40k terms at least.
DeleteJon your conversions surprise me again and again, you really have an eye for it. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom! I keep thinking I'm going to use up all the suitable conversion material, but happily I keep thinking of new stuff to chop up!!
DeleteLaszooka will be the name of my new band.
ReplyDeleteSolid minis today. Love the hat, a great choice.
I like hats on minis I have to say. Nothing beats a good piece of headgear as a fashion statement!
DeleteNice conversion on Denge and really nice painting on Trego! I have to get back to work on my own collection of space scum pretty soon here, and this makes for good inspiration!
ReplyDeleteSpace scum are my favourite kind of figure really! Looking forward to seeing your selection :)
DeleteYou are tireless, every new post gets even better than the previous one! I like how you get to see (and then combine!) such different minis. Lovely work
ReplyDeleteThanks Suber! Routine helps me pump out figures regularly. As for the combinations - I just keep putting figures against each other to see what works!
DeleteYour rocket launcher has a very Angel Gang vibe with that hat – I love it. This is such a lovely gang.
ReplyDeleteI love hats. I wish there were more of them in 40k. Cousin Angel perhaps?
DeleteVery nice work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kym!
DeleteNice additions and another ace conversion.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sean!
DeleteMore cultist goodness. Great work on both.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm still saving up creds to be able to afford my missile launcher :)
