"He's no good to me dead!"- Olley x Boba Fett

I think I said a few posts back that I had no intention of recreating the entire cast of Star Wars with Bob Olley miniatures. However, this is looking like a hollow claim, as I'm now actively working on a the bulk of the principle and supporting characters. I'm very pleased with my Boba Fett though!

Boba is a slight conversion of Venk from the Iron Claw space pirates range. I added a few extra pads and resculpted the helmet slightly. He also got a jetpack made from a squat jump pack plus a random piece from my bits box.

I went for an approximation of the costume colours and placements, given that it's not a movie accurate copy! I think it's enough to give the right feel though!

I'm pleased that the few tweaks and different colour scheme do enough to differentiate Boba from Venk:

You'll have noticed that I've also painted up my own sarlacc pit for Boba to hang around in. This is the plastic ogor mawpit from Games Workshop that I picked up a little while back, but didn't get round to doing anything with. It comes with a few additional structures, but I built it a stripped-down as possible - pretty much the perfect thematic terrain piece.

All those teeth took an age to paint!

  1. This is the coolest double-niche project.

"the heavy blaster goes up for auction next month if you happen to have a spare $1m!" – is this a Star Wars thing being auctioned, or an Olley thing being auctioned?

    1. Thanks Curis! It's the hero prop as seen in Empire that's up for auction, sadly not a cool Olley thing!

  3. Oh, brilliant! Several of the Olley space pirates really have a Boba Fett like look going on. Venk is a great choice, and he looks perfect.

    1. Thanks! I felt Venk was the best fit with his natty cape and cool blaster 🙂

  5. Boba Fett looks great! You need to take a photo staging all of the Star Wars characters you've painted up... :)

    1. Thanks Kym. As I said, I think the colour scheme does a lot of the hard work here 🙂

  7. Absolutely perfect down to every detail, from the sculp on the mini (Which makes it distinctive and different from the original) to the Sarlacc. Truly cool!

    1. Thanks Bill! The pads were possibly unnecessary for the overall silhouette, but really important for the colour placement. Whereas the jetpack was the reverse!
