Programmed for Maximum Boom - Bombots

When Curis showed off his DTN8 Remote Mine Droids the other week, I knew I had to persuade him to send me some. He duly sent me a set of three, and I happily added them to my paint queue (disclaimer: mine will never, ever look as good as Curis' paintjobs. Make sure you check out his if you want to see some beautiful brushwork on cute exploding robots!).

As for my trio of bombots DTN8 Remote Mine Droids, I simply had to wind back the clock five years to the other bombot engineering droid I painted up to go with my maintenance crew. So out came the same grey and yellow combination with a big red lens and some chipping / scuffing around the edges.

Happily, although the designs are a little different, there's enough commonality to tie them in with my earlier model (the MkI bombot versus the MkII perhaps?).

Either way, the squat engineer is going to have to be on the ball to make sure he programs / operates all four correctly!

  2. I was going to paint mine yellow and grey originally, to get that construction vibe but you'd beaten me to it with your engineering droid! Great work axi! I really like the gloss on the eyes lenses, and the green-grey tone you've used on the chasses.

    1. Yellow and grey I'd one of my favourite combinations for that feel of functionality/industrial realism. Glad you like these!

    1. I totally agree! I'm already planning to adapt the Cawdor bomb rat mechanism for use in Necromunda.

  4. Nice to see another element of Rogue Trader getting a (similar) model! And the painting looks just right, too.

  9. Wow you've really replicated that old paintjob beautifully! I can hardly paint new stuff to fit in with the minis I painted last week!

    1. It's a challenge sometimes, but I was able to remember the paints I used first time. I should really write it all down just in case!

  10. I fell in love when I saw them on Curis' blog, but yours are truly lovely too. They have some Dalek quality, now that I see them again...
I hope we can see them on the battle board soon!
