Gamma World 'Woman Adventurer'

Every so often I spy a random figure on ebay that really appeals. Most recently it was a female figure in an asymmetric dress with a blaster pistol. I checked with the seller who assured me that it was 28mm scale, so I risked a couple of quid and bought it.

When it arrived, I was a little disappointed as the figure was closer to 25mm in scale. Some research revealed that she was a 'Woman Adventurer' from the Grenadier Gamma World range. Although a tad too small for an adult female, she could, with her round face, represent a young girl. So I painted her anyway!

Those space amazons are becoming quite a menace in many fringe settlements.

I painted her in similarly bright colours to my Rogue Quest barbarian (based on an old pre-slotta amazon) from a few years ago, with eye-catching pink hair and a nice blue dress.

I did rush her a little as I was painting her during the drying time of another figure - I guess in all she took no more than an hour total. Not my best work, but she's another nice NPC to get onto the table.

I think she actually does work pretty nicely scale-wise with my other space kids:

I perhaps ought to see what other 25mm figures might work as kids in 28mm? Some of the Spacefarers range might have some potential.

  1. I've done that too! Gone on eBay trawls and found random old lead miniatures that catch my eye! :3

    1. It's definitely fun. I always try and do it when I get to an old school hobby shop that has random loose miniatures. You never know what might turn up!

  2. Is that a 25mm base? Then she is a great kid size, and while this might not be your best paint job, I think she looks great. (although I might have put some sort of tatoo/facepaint mark on that huge forehead!

    1. I did wonder about a face tattoo. I was pondering a triangle on her forehead, but in the end it didn't happen. It's a good call though.

  3. Quite an interesting model. The paintjob is pretty effective, don't push so hard on yourself, I find this one really enjoyable!

  5. Lovely old mini that stands the test of time. The Grenadier Gamma World range is quite wonderful. The blisters contain many of my holy grails.

    1. Honestly the range had completely passed me by. Like many of these ranges (Traveller, Shadowrun, Spacefarers), I really love the figures, but I can't help wishing they were 28mm ;)

  8. Lovely work! I've got a bunch of old Gamma World blisters knocking around somewhere, like you say they're closer to true 25mm so I've just ignored them for years Might dig them out and see if any could work as juves now!

  9. In the end, despite her size she looks great. She has a "join my religious cult or die" vibe ;)

  10. I dunno, people come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Hell, my ex wife was 5' tall (My current wife 5'2"), which is the size of a teenager for sure. She could just be a mini-lass with a bad attitude? AND with that revealing dress style, I think she has more of an adult look to her anyhow, one who sells a little flesh to make coin if you know what I mean?
