Choose Your Own Adventurers #7: Cinereal Jeannie, Inquisitional Psyker

Cheetor excelled with the selection of his Grace Jones lookalike in the last instalment of Choose Your Own Adventurers. My next selection, also part of Inquisitor Clousseau's retinue, is a rather beautiful and delicately sculpted figure from the Adventurers range: the Psyker.

I love pretty much everything about this sculpt - she's beautifully posed mid-power and has an interesting, yet understated outfit. Best of all, she has a lovely, characterful face - slightly concerned about the effects of the psychic power emitting from her mind perhaps? I even like her 1980s mobile phone!

She also reminds me a little of Jean Grey from the X-Men. Perhaps a little less confident about her abilities?

Jeannie got the same colour palette as Short Jern Silvo, and Inquisitor Clousseau himself, this time with the addition of some darker elements.

Look at that worried face!

No doubt she will be blasting some bad guys and grotesque mutants, while Clousseau gets busy with his shotgun. I mean chainsword. I mean xenos rifle.

Inquisitor Clousseau and associates find themselves in yet another tight spot.

  1. She's a a discrete model for sure but you've renewed my interest in her greatly ! I think a couple of other adventurers have that mobile phone in the range.
That's a lovely group forming here.

    1. You're right, there are several sporting the same phone model ;)

      Cheers!

  2. Nice job, buddy!

I love the way she looks of a totally indeterminable age.

    1. That's the effects of prolonged psychic activity. Eventual physical burnout, even if she's still in her 20s!

  3. She's great, I like the understated palette. The milky eyes are enough to give her some drama, combined with the pose. I hadn't looked too hard at this mini before, she really is great sculpt.

    1. Thanks Mr Saturday! She really is a gem hidden in plain sight I think!

  4. Definitely a strong Jean Grey influence on that sculpt. It's certainly one if the tidier sculpts in the range.

She should slot into Clousseau's retinue perfectly.

    1. Thanks cheetor. She will indeed be earmarked as Clousseau's long-standing companion, with a hint of unrequited love ;)

  5. Maybe she's not a Psyker? She looks like she's posed trying to ward off her horny husband be feigning a headache :)

Cool paint job Axiom, I like her massive mobile phone too.

    1. I never even considered that she might not be a psyker. I'll look at her in a new light now!

Glad we're all in agreement that big chunky phones from the 1980s also belong to the distant far future.

  6. This is really great! Shame there aren't more female miniatures in the Adventurers range.

Where did the inspiration for doing the sleeves a different colour to the torso garment come from? Was your decision prompted by the sculpt or was it something inspired by real life?

    1. Not any particular inspiration for the different sleeve colour I think. I'd seen them done the same colour, I just fancied a bit of contrast. It hadn't even occurred to me that it might be unusual.

    2. I always fall into the trap of painting items as one singular colour. One item of clothing isn't made out of just one fabric I can see just looking around me, but it's easy to forget when you're in paint mode. Only time I really think about it is when a coat has a lining or collar.

    3. I do the same to be honest. It sometimes helps with defining the garment though I guess?

  7. Cracking job mate - one of the best adventurers imo, and you certainly did her justice.

    1. Thanks Alex! I do like the range as a whole, but it's nice to choose one of the really nice ones :)

  8. I dunno she kinda looks like she just ate a gas station burrito and trying to make it to the toilet before she explodes. But if she is telekinetic...can't she bring the toilet to her? LOL Seriously though great figure and paint ob, she totally evokes Jean Grey.

    1. She could indeed bring the toilet to her, but she'd lose all sense of dignity I suspect :)

  9. I love the psyker having a terrible hangover :D
The discrete colours work better than I could expect; I'm used to brighter palettes on these 80's minis, but you made an amazing work here!

    1. Thanks Suber! I do like bright colours, but sometimes it's nice to mix it up :)

  10. Another lovely addition to the group - great model (I don't remember seeing this one before) and great painting - I particularly like the grey streak.

    1. Thanks! She's fairly uncommon I think, she never made it into the later ranges, so had largely disappeared by the 1990s.

  11. Understated clothing seems wise for a psyker not willing to burn.

Great figure, and one of the few I have from that era. Yours is of course much better painted, and in fact my copy is in my Inq28 drawer for eventual repainting.

    1. You don't want to draw attention indeed. Mind you, those 90s Goodwin psykers were somewhat overstated with those massive collars and feathers!

  12. And the all-white eyes is just perfect for her pose/paint job. Great job overall!

    1. Thanks! It helps convince that she really is channelling psychic power with those clouded eyes :)

  13. You've done quite a great job with that miniature. I've never been too taken with the way she usually looks in photographs about the net, but you've sold me on her. That really is a nice miniature with some neat details. So many of those earlier Citadel sculpts look so much better with the right coat of paint. It helps to bring out the humor and some of the (occasionally) understated details. I think I felt the same way about the Olley pirate Lorita/Cybergirl. Never much cared for her until I painted her myself. And now? . . . I love her! Your psyker is going to be a fine addition to the story. :)

    1. I'm 100% with you. There are some real gems that have suffered with unflattering photography or paint schemes. Loritta is fun too!
