Cheetor excelled with the selection of his Grace Jones lookalike in the last instalment of Choose Your Own Adventurers. My next selection, also part of Inquisitor Clousseau's retinue, is a rather beautiful and delicately sculpted figure from the Adventurers range: the Psyker.
She also reminds me a little of Jean Grey from the X-Men. Perhaps a little less confident about her abilities?
Jeannie got the same colour palette as Short Jern Silvo, and Inquisitor Clousseau himself, this time with the addition of some darker elements.

No doubt she will be blasting some bad guys and grotesque mutants, while Clousseau gets busy with his shotgun. I mean chainsword. I mean xenos rifle.

She's a a discrete model for sure but you've renewed my interest in her greatly ! I think a couple of other adventurers have that mobile phone in the range.

That's the effects of prolonged psychic activity. Eventual physical burnout, even if she's still in her 20s!
DeleteShe's great, I like the understated palette. The milky eyes are enough to give her some drama, combined with the pose. I hadn't looked too hard at this mini before, she really is great sculpt.

DeleteDefinitely a strong Jean Grey influence on that sculpt. It's certainly one if the tidier sculpts in the range.

This is really great! Shame there aren't more female miniatures in the Adventurers range.
ReplyDeleteWhere did the inspiration for doing the sleeves a different colour to the torso garment come from? Was your decision prompted by the sculpt or was it something inspired by real life?
Not any particular inspiration for the different sleeve colour I think. I'd seen them done the same colour, I just fancied a bit of contrast. It hadn't even occurred to me that it might be unusual.
DeleteI always fall into the trap of painting items as one singular colour. One item of clothing isn't made out of just one fabric I can see just looking around me, but it's easy to forget when you're in paint mode. Only time I really think about it is when a coat has a lining or collar.

ReplyDeleteThanks! She's fairly uncommon I think, she never made it into the later ranges, so had largely disappeared by the 1990s.

ReplyDeleteGreat figure, and one of the few I have from that era. Yours is of course much better painted, and in fact my copy is in my Inq28 drawer for eventual repainting.
You don't want to draw attention indeed. Mind you, those 90s Goodwin psykers were somewhat overstated with those massive collars and feathers!

DeleteYou've done quite a great job with that miniature. I've never been too taken with the way she usually looks in photographs about the net, but you've sold me on her. That really is a nice miniature with some neat details. So many of those earlier Citadel sculpts look so much better with the right coat of paint. It helps to bring out the humor and some of the (occasionally) understated details. I think I felt the same way about the Olley pirate Lorita/Cybergirl. Never much cared for her until I painted her myself. And now? . . . I love her! Your psyker is going to be a fine addition to the story. :)
