I love making and painting terrain. You get a lot of bang for your buck, and it's generally quick and imprecise, meaning you don't really need to concentrate too hard! I especially like when you can add cheap toys into the terrain collection.
I recently picked up a pair of hard plastic toy barns or sheds from eBay for about £9 the pair. I guess they were intended as farm toy accessories. The sheds came flat pack and are push-fit assembly with sliding doors. After assembling mine, I glued the doors in position (open on one shed and closed on the other.
I went for a very quick paint job that is intended to imitate heavily rusted agricultural or industrial sheds. Nearly all the paint is applied with a spray can, stippled on with a big brush, or piece of blister foam. The few 'details' are also quick and easy - to give the sense of panels I masked off some of the wall sections and hit them with a heavier stipple of the brown. The rust streaks are watered down brown that I pulled downwards with a piece of tissue.

Of course, the best thing about having some new terrain, is using it with minis. I don't have a game planned in the near future, so I just had to make do with setting up some scenic photos!
