This pair of Jedi have taken longer than I anticipated, but I'm happy to have completed my Bob Olley versions of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. Like all of the other figures in this Olley Wars project, they are both based on sculpts by Bob Olley.
Obi-Wan started out life as this Alternative Armies Sidhe:
I removed the topknow and axe, then extensively oversculpted the Jedi robes and other details. I think the sword was originally from a Citadel half-orc.
I removed the dagger and just sculpted the robe sleeve and cane. I realise the facial features are a bit off, but the size and clothing were a nice match.

I just love this series! I'm very tempted to fire up my old blog to include all the past miniatures I've converted for Frostgrave, Stargrave, Rangers of Shadowdeep and Burrows & Badgers.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gretchin. I reckon there's always value in showing off fun creations 🙂
DeleteGreat to see the saga continue
ReplyDeleteThanks Rob!
DeleteOnce again I think what fascinates me the most is the ability to envision the final result from the source material. What an awesome work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suber! The base model for Obi-Wan was suggested to me as I was struggling for ideas. Very pleased that it worked out so well!
DeleteSo good! Your vision to see Obiwan in the Sidhe figure is impressive!
ReplyDeleteBill.
Thanks Bill - as I said to Suber, the idea for the Sidhe was from someone else, but really pleased to execute it!
DeleteGreat stuff - Obiwan in particular is excellent.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kym!
DeleteHaving just finished reading this entire blog from start to end, the abrupt left turn into Olley SW obsession is a fun unexpected twist. Still not an Olley fan, but seeing all the models celebrated this way has definitely warmed me to them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonehead! Sorry to hear I haven't converted you to Olley yet 😁
DeleteI'll be closing the Bob Olley SW project in the near future, but it's been a fun ride whilst it's been going!
Inspired stuff sir as always. Your vision for converting always impresses. I struggle with colour schemes in general, let alone on how to better use existing old sculpts for something else!
ReplyDeleteBoth are really great additions for this project. Especially liking your Yoda - he has a very Samurai era japanese feel to his design.
Thanks so much Dai! Happily I didn't have to do much thinking about the colour schemes on these 😄
DeleteI've probably said it before, but I really love the process of seeking out and repurposing a figure. You can end up with some really interesting and unique outcomes.
This projet is so awesome, you did quite asculpt job on Obiwan...
ReplyDeleteGlad you're enjoying these!
