Sometimes a syndicate boss might want to discover which of their rivals is having an affair with their closest lieutenant. Sometimes a grieving family might want a cold murder case resolved long after the official authorities have halted their enquiries. Cases such as these require an enquiring mind and delicate touch - they often fall into the hands of a private investigator.
Gomez and Schrodo have a reputation for subtlety. They are rumoured to have an excellent network of informants and contacts, and are willing to tread the streets at all hours in search of the truth.
I painted up this pair for no reason other than I fancied painting them. Gomez is of course the Official from the Rogue Trader Adventurers range, whilst Schrodo is Biljo Buckets from the recent Skull & Crown Space Scrappers Kickstarter (now available on the webstore). I paired them up simply because I thought they had a similar vibe.
The paint schemes were informed by some of my other figures. Schrodo was painted up so he could fit in with my ratling warband if I fancied it:
Whereas Gomez could be a shady facilitator for my Cold Trader:
This definitely gets me in the vibe for some noir themed gaming!
Schrodo looks like he just spotted a Soylent Green stand...
ReplyDeleteHe's definitely seen something to start his stomach rumbling!
DeleteLove them, Some Noir gaming would be very fun indeed, investigators drowning sorrow in spook while working on some grim cases that take them deeper than they would have wanted
ReplyDeleteI love that kind of vibe. The Warhammer Crime novels do a great job of bringing that kind of story to life BTW. I should have added a rain filter to that photo - it's always raining in noir!
DeleteThey make quite an odd couple :D
ReplyDeleteI like how you tied them both chromatically, yet keeping them versatile for other purposes. Nice!
An odd couple is the classic buddy cop pairing after all! Glad you approve 🙂
Deleteokay i might hundred percent steal this
ReplyDeleteI think everyone could make use of a pairing like this!
Delete"I painted up this pair for no reason other than I fancied painting them." ... that's the story of my hobby-life :)
ReplyDeleteAs long as we're enjoying ourselves! 😁
Delete40k's answer to Zavant Konniger and his trusted halfling manservant Vido. ^^
ReplyDeleteAnother BL book that I've not got round to reading. Sounds like it's definitely worth looking into!
DeleteYou really should! It's an excellent book (well, compiled series of short stories).
Delete👍 I'll see if I can track down a copy
DeleteI love that official, but I always thought he looked incredibly angry. You've managed to soften him up and make him up just enough to look merely inquisitive, if in a somewhat hard boiled way. Maybe it's the story, but I feel like your paint scheme helps somehow. Very well done! And he pairs up quite well with Schrodo. I don't doubt many great stories will come out of that pairing.
ReplyDeleteHe's a funny model really - I guess like a lot of the Adventurers range he's a completely unique character. He definitely seems a bit ill-tempered though!
DeleteYou've done a lovely job painting the face on the Ratling. He looks alive, like a Jonah Hill character.
ReplyDeleteI am disappointed he's not got a name like "Pecan P.I." though.
I hadn't seen the Jonah Hill resemblance, but now you Henton it...!
DeleteNothing to stop him having Pecan as his surname though 😉
Fantastic - the official is one of my favourite figures and that Scrapper figure is very nice too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kym. The official ys a great figure, but he does look a dodgy character to me!
DeleteThese are great. Love how you painted up a pair meant to work together, but also with other teams!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hobbs. Always helps to have a bit of multi-functionality with models!
DeleteMultifunction and sweet looking to boot!
ReplyDeleteYou always manage to get so much character into your figs and paintjobs. Such a treat to see what new coolness comes off your paint station.
Thanks Dai! The character was already there in the figures really 🙂
DeleteI would love to read it!! Cheers Jimmy.
