Man Skirts ARE In Vogue - Tal Newblade, Eldar Void Pirate

The problem with playing in an Inquisimunda (or Necromunda) campaign, is that you keep on earning money. You keep on wanting to spend it on new gear and new additions to your warband. Which means new models. OK, it's not really too much of a problem, but it does require some effort. A fortnight ago, I rolled up a free addition to my warband, by virtue of holding a settlement as part of my territory. Our campaign GM agreed this should be a basic Eldar character (a Rating in the Void Pirates list). I went away and rummaged amongst my Eldar spare parts and damaged figures, and put together this guy:

Tal Newblade is a rash youngster (a mere 93 years old). Considered to be somewhat hot-headed and impulsive by the rest of the Free Company, Tal is easily marked amongst his fellows by his rather garish fashion sense and unnecessarily flamboyant wargear.

Like several others in the warband, Tal received a vaguely Japanese inspired scheme, albeit this one was much brighter than the more subdued colours on the other members.

I converted Tal up from 3 separate models - an old Eldar champion who donated the upper body and bionic leg, a shuriken catapult from another Eldar figure, and finally the right leg and sarong / skirt from an Eldar sorceress.
Tal's donor parts.

The warband is now starting to look pretty strong, and I took the opportunity to take some scenic shots:

The Free Company fend off an ambush from chaos scum.

Human 'fixer' Drosk takes aim.

Prince Nuadha and his bodyguard survey the surrounding terrain.

The Eldar cautiously cross a dried-up river bed.

  1. The quality of this eldar warband really makes up for the lack of quantty of oldschool eldar out there.
    Waiting for more.

  3. Quite nice work on this new chap (particularly the bionic leg), and I like the "in action" shots as well.

Any chance of a picture of that vehicle I see in the background?

  5. They look ace Axiom! Your final mini looks like an original sculpt, even though it's made up of three very different guys. Very clever :)

  8. Arrghhh man skirts ... nothing puts more fear into the enemy than having to glimpse at his privates as the wind blows in a 'wind blowing through Charlie's Angels hair' like-effect. :)

By the way, I love that brown-orange colour in between his skirt and blue armour. What colour is it? I can't seem to put my finger on it.

    1. These guys don't take a step towards the enemy without a movie-style air blower and slow motion recording devices ;)

The orange brown is ungor flesh with a sepia wash. It gives a nice muted orange :)

  9. Is the ....Is the Yellow guy your take on the Eldar Adventurer from the Rogue Trader?
The guy holding his helmet under his arm? I'm working on one of those now. It's SO good to see someone paying attention and subtly sneaking things in.
