SME-601 - Surveillance Servitor

Servitors are created for a myriad of menial functions - reptitive labour, heavy lifting, mechanical interface or even as personal guards. Most follow a common pattern, based on vat-grown clones or mind-wiped criminals. A select few are more specialised, and SME-601 is an example of such. Created from the body of a feral child, SME-601 incorporates advanced tracking, recording  and broadcasting equipment in its over-sized skull. Its small size and agile form allows the servitor to conceal itself in shadows and crevices, hang from roof beams and girders, or lurk in pits, wells and sewers; to watch the unwary, unseen.

SME-601 was fairly obviously constructed from a Citadel Lord of the Rings Gollum figure. The conversion was very basic - I removed the head and replaced it with a Forgeworld servo skull. The data ports on SME-601's back came from Zinge Industries.

I decided to go for a fairly subdued colour scheme with the grey rock and pale flesh dominating...there are flashes of colour on SME-601's lenses and the iritated flesh around his dataports.

I haven't worked out whether he's rather cute or extremely sinister yet. I guess time will tell!

    1. Thanks JB! It's always nice to make something in about 5 minutes, with not too much hassle involved. The simple sculpt also made painting very quick :)

    1. I think I nicked the idea from someone else who did something similar. But I can't remember where I saw it. Glad you like him though!

  5. Great work! Just a snip of the old head, and bung on a servo skull and yet you have an amazing miniature come out of it.

    1. The best conversions are the simplest! I'm a firm believer in head swaps as a way to completely change the look of a figure.

  8. That's really well conceived and thoroughly unpleasant. Definitely not cute.

I'm not terribly familiar with the LOTR range, so FWIW I didn't realise that it was based on a Hollym fig until it was pointed out.

    Great work.
