Marauder Ash Waste Nomad #3 |
I actually found the figure incredibly hard work to paint - primarily because of the sheer number of details and layers of clothing. Trying to squeeze in all the bright colours probably doesn't help though! I also couldn't find a single painted version of this figure online to compare my version against - I'm sure painted versions exist somewhere - anyone know of any photographs they can share?
With his carved staff and pointing pose, I've decided he is probably an Ash Wastes Shaman, so I'll probably be using him as a Psyker in games. I guess he may have been sculpted as an alternate leader to the Jes Goodwin sculpt - certainly all the decorative metal discs and tassles indicate he's more than your average ganger.
Here's the three Nomads together. I wish I'd painted the guy on the left with yellow trousers and red head scarf as he'd integrate better with the other two, but I don't really fancy repainting him (and I am rather pleased with the painting on his red trews!).
More Nomads to come in due course!
I'm liking him, they're shaping up to be cracking little gang. Games will have to be arranged!
ReplyDeleteThanks Colin! Perhaps we could sort out some sort of Ash Waste encounter? I'm on the look out for a suitable crawler vehicle for these guys to travel around in :)
DeleteAxiom - have a look at Ratgard's vehicles?
DeleteRatgard's big truck thing is pretty tasty...I'm tempted!
DeleteI'd apologise for your wallet, but I'm not really sorry. ;-)
DeleteSplendid job, as said on FB, I really think the black and white design add a lot of vibrance to the whole scheme which turns out lovely.
ReplyDeleteI agree the carved staff must be somewhat special, either the model is a shaman or maybe a psyched of some sort?
A second confrontation game in the wastes then for BOYL15 ?
Thanks JB :) Those glyph plates were problematic as I said, until John Blanche's concept sketches came to the rescue!
DeleteConfrontation in the wastes sounds like a great idea for BOYL15...sign me up :)
Lovely work, Jon. Really looking forward to seeing more of this gang. Never realised how much detail there is on that fig.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed! Yes - he's covered in little details that aren't immediately obvious from seeing the bare metal. Pig to paint though!
