It might have looked as if the Bratts had a mauling, but the casualty count was very high! Chris' Underhivers also had 3 killed, while Colin lost a pair. My Bratts also scored pretty well in their game objectives: 1) Looking cool (by spending APs to do things like unecessary combat rolls, blasting out elctro-synth music from their personal music systems and strutting with canes.
2) scragging (taking trophies) off fallen opponents. I think they managed to collect 5 or 6.
3) Collecting hidden stashes of spook (again 4-5 collected).
Im glad to hear it. Without theme then whats the point?
I default to measuring games by casualties for and against I guess, whereas it appears that the Bratts objectives were a lot more interesting than that, striking poses and the like.
Its cool to see a miniature Bratt gang searching some nice hive terrain after all these years :)
Love this report, the style really suits the game. I think I lost four of my gang in the end, two to you and two to antipixi. We need to play this again.
I've spent the last two weeks trying to think up an interesting way to do the report...and then I saw my 1987 2000AD annual ;) Turns out there are a few comic strip tools - I just picked one and ran with it!
I agree we need to play again...the sheer fact I'm still thinking about the game still is a good indicator I think!
The bratts did perform a stunning score by fulfilling their objectives. I particularly loved how Jern used his late conquest as a shield for what would have otherwise been a very nasty flamer shot ;) I really think we can take this to higher levels.
I've been selling the concept of Confrontation to some Necromunda players - they've been struggling with the idea that a game isn't entirely constrained by move>shoot>combat. I think they're warming to the idea after seeing how much fun this game was :)
It's pretty much the essence of Oldhammer : getting back to the basis to get off those rails. I'll try to sell the idea to my local players but I'll have to fight their reluctancy with rules in english. Anyway I'd be more than happy if our game was only the start of a new life for confrontation. I want to get working on this compilation as soon as I ge thome !
ReplyDeleteNice. The Dukes were all feeling a bit shagged and fagged and fashed, it being a night of no small expenditure.
A bit of a kicking? A Pyrrhic victory perhaps? The Bratts seem to have lived up to their style over content raison d'etre.

Of course, #1 was the most important ;)
