Technically this post is made up of a couple of spin-off projects from a spin-off project. I painted up the unreleased space slann to bulk up my Five Parsecs from Home crew into a Stargrave crew. Then the Colony 87 figure and terrain pieces just followed suit!
The two new models are a Citadel unreleased space slann which I have had for donkey's years (long before the collecting of unreleased figures was as big a deal as it is now!), and Adjunct Gilda Citlax - one of the amphiran characters from Crooked Dice's Colony 87 range.
I quite like the contrast between the long and leggy slann and the stocky grumpy-looking amphiran. I had a lot of fun painting the face and tunic folds in particular. The colour scheme for both figures was taken directly from the original slann and Colony 87 slann I painted back in 2017.
The scenic pieces are the final section of this particular painting train of thought. The two monoliths were from the Katsina Miniatures Bizaza Kickstarter. I don't think they're currently available in the webstore, but there are other cool frog-person miniatures.
The calendar / plinth is from Fenris Games. I painted all three in a very quick session with just drybrushing of successively light blue-greens, but I think they look really nice!
Always like to see some Space Slaan and yours never disappoint sir. Great colours on some very cool sculpts.
ReplyDeleteI'm very fond of slann myself. It's a project I keep promising myself, but these will temporarily scratch that itch for now! Glad you like them 🙂
DeleteAlways nice to see more Slann. That un-released model is really cool, glad you got it painted up and shared it! love the colors on them and the terrain!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hobbs! The unreleased slann has some really cool elements - the crest and visor really make him stand out.
DeleteLooking great! I like the red skin a lot!
ReplyDeleteThanks Toby! I remember agonising over the skin colour for ages originally. I knew I wanted something colourful, but definitely not green or blue!
DeletePretty cool.
ReplyDeleteThanks 🙂
DeleteLovely work as ever! I've also had one of those unreleased Slann for ages and keep meaning to paint him up for my Space Slann army, but I just never get round to him, this may have persuaded me to push him to the top of the leadpile ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Evo! Your unreleased slann definitely deserves getting a nice paintjob - looking forward to seeing him painted 🙂
DeleteSuch a great looking project, well done they look superb, that unreleased Slann is a very characterful sculpt and paint job is great, the skin colour is outstanding
