So, the Shadow War: Armageddon game is out. I managed to pick up a set on Sunday, and it's 100% aimed at my sweet spot for gaming - small scale skirmish using a Necromunda-based ruleset.
My gaming group is planning a SW:A campaign for a few month's time. The only difficult decision was what to make. Old school RT scouts as marine scouts? Or Arbites as scouts? Or Zoats as Tyranids? Or Slann as Tau. Or, or, or???
Then I remembered these:
I didn't sculpt the Ratling head - Kev Adams did that at BOYL15. |
I did manage to progress the plasma gunner a little, adding some greenstuff details and filling the gaps.
Much kudos to you if you can ID the components to this guy!
Great stuff axiom, looking forward to seeing more :)
ReplyDeleteO wow, that's some kickarse work. All the little GS additions are very clever.
ReplyDeleteDoes SW:A have rules for Inquisitor or Rogue Trader type teams too?
The box set sold out really quickly so GW are going to be publishing the rule book separately, including rules for inquisition kill teams!
DeleteThanks Dai. It's the little extra work that helps make the figures unique I think.
DeleteAs The Horned God said, no Inquisitors in the boxed game (only Marine Scouts, Guard and Orks in fact). GW have put a bunch of PDFs on the Warhammer Community for other factions, and have promised a second print run of the rulebook with Inquisitors included.
That's great to hear. Mix in a little Chaos and I'll be the happiest boy on the block.
DeleteChaos Marines are already available, and there's rumours of cultists to come :)
DeleteVery cool - Loving the mix of the old and new!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteVery cool
ReplyDeleteGreat work so far Axiom. I'm especially looking forward to seeing the Ratling painted up....don't see many of those wee folk painted, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteTasty :)
I'm long overdue painting up the ratling, but I will rectify it ASAP :)
DeleteLooks like the perfect plan to me !
ReplyDeleteNow, I really need to have a cigar chewing front man, big blingy black guy, a crazy pilot and a smooth-talking ladies man...
DeleteDo it.
DeleteThat Guard Veteran on the left reminds me of a Vietnam era M60 man. Very cool. Kev did a wonderful job on the ratling head. This looks like a fun little project. Well done Jon. ;)
ReplyDeleteI figure a new game is the perfect excuse to make some new figures. Hopefully they'll live up to the promise!
DeleteGreat work. What was the plasma gunner before he joined the Cadians?
ReplyDeleteIf someone will not let you use the autogun, well, then they probably are not someone you want to play with anyway.
Parts wise, the plasma gunner was a Confrontation Tech Ganger in a previous life. I don't know what his career was pre-military ;)
DeleteThe guys I game with will let me use the autoguns, either as autoguns or 'count as' lasguns. They're good lads :)
Fantastic work! Those Krieg arms fit in much better than expected. Lovely work here!
ReplyDeleteI think the Krieg arms are my favourite 'generic' GW arms. They're pretty versatile compared to some of the other more recognisable ones.
DeleteNow that's the difference between a pro like you and a noob like me. Not only did you fill up the gaps/holes but you added detail to the sculpt. Me, all I can manage is to fill up the hole and even then I sometimes fumble ... I kid you not! It's like there is a creative block in my head when it comes to sculpting! :)
ReplyDeleteStart with basic shapes and see what you can do. If you add a blob of greenstuff to a trouser leg and smooth it flat, a few minutes later you can use a sharp knife to trim it into an oblong. Hey presto, it's a pocket! I started filling holes (my original conversions didn't even have gaps filled), and I've steadily added to the armoury over time. Keep trying stuff and seeing what happens!
DeleteThanks for the advice. :) I will definitely try it out on my Suicide Squad proxy projects. Will be keeping it as basic as it can be! :)
DeleteHey.
ReplyDeleteI’ve just completed this project for tracking Kill Teams. It would be great if you could check it out and let me know what you think. You can add equipment, skills, injuries and more!
