Supressing Fire - Confrontation Maniac Ganger for Logan's World

One of the pleasures of making my Logan's World Mercenary gang, is that I'm painting up some pretty obscure figures. In fact, I don't believe I've ever seen all 4 Confrontation Maniacs painted before.

If you can't recall what I'm talking about, it's these guys:

Photo from the excellent Stuff of Legends.

I've previously painted up two of the armless guys, and decided it was high time to paint up the third (also my favourite of the three). As with the earlier pair, I've gone for a fairly restrained colour palette - a dun brown, white, dark blue and black.

Maniac #3 also gets the pre-requisite white eye band (denoting a mercenary on Logan's World).

I've used another pair of arms from Victoria Miniatures, spliced with a bolter. I needed to modify the left hand a little by rotating about 90 degrees. You can't really see in the pics, but I sculpted a basic wrist watch to cover the join (it might not be sci-fi, but it's retro).

Here's the three Maniacs together - a pretty menacing looking bunch!

I'm looking forward to painting the Maniac Leader with his AK47 style autogun in the near future.

  2. Great stuff Axiom, but yeah, that leader looks ace....even without paint!

    1. The leader is a fantastic figure. A little bit of me wishes they were all one piece sculpts.

    2. The Leader is the only one of those that I kept, for that precise reason.

But you made those arms fit on the guy above beautifully. From the photos and the chunky bolter (is that a "Phobos" pattern now?) I would have assumed that it was sculpted as a one piece.

      Gorgeous work as ever.

    3. I know you dislike separate arms. I hope you don't regret offloading the armless ones. They are still great models!

  3. Great pose, and I like how well the boltgun fits him. Of course in new money that would be a bolt pistol...

    1. Yeah, pistols are massive these days aren't they?!

  4. This one looks the best of the three. Between the pose and those arms (That look like they were made for the model.) he really does look like he's bracing to shoot a bolt gun that would otherwise be horribly difficult for an average human to fire.

    1. You can just imagine the bruises he's going have on his shoulder in the morning :)

  5. Looking sharp. Are you going to use these with Necromunda?

    1. The short answer is yes. The long answer is that we're shortly going to start an Ash Wastes campaign using the Citadel Journal rules (Necromunda plus vehicles).

  7. Where's the bolter from? Has it been hacked from the chest of a poor donor figure?

Great work matching the arms to the rest of the sculpt, they mesh together really well.
